101675B_LWith cooler weather on the way, now is a good time to check out your hot tub’s thermometer. After all, it’s one spa accessory that can help you maintain your hot tub’s water temperature and save on utility costs in the process. Of course in order to do that, it has to be working properly. Here’s more:

To test your current spa thermometer for accuracy, take it inside. Then place a pot of water onto your home’s stove and bring it to a boil. At that point, stick your spa thermometer into the boiling water. If it reads 212 Degrees Fahrenheit, you can rest assured that the thermometer is working properly. If it doesn’t provide the correct temperature, you’ll want to consider replacing it.

One product to consider in that regard is the alkaline battery operated La Crosse Technology’s Wireless Remote Thermometer. It is designed to monitor your hot tub’s water temperature as well as your home’s indoor temperature and relative humidity all at the same time. It will also display the current time in 12/24 format.

In order to achieve its designated tasks, the system comes equipped with a display panel base station, a weather resistant, wireless sensor and a 6 foot probe that gets inserted into the hot tub’s water. Because it is weatherproof, the 915 MHz sensor can safely sit outside and transmit a signal up to 330 feet. The system’s base, on the other hand, may be mounted on an inside wall or left sitting on top of one of your home’s counters.

If you don’t want to go digital, there are other options available. For example, you could decide to invest in a whimsical, floating thermometer instead. They feature adorable tops that remain above the water. The tops’ designs vary. Models currently on offer include a dolphin, a rubber duck and a shark. Each one utilizes a classic thermometer base that must be read manually. For those that don’t want to add a touch of whimsy, we also stock basic OREQ floating thermometers that do not feature cartoonish tops. They tend to come outfitted with cords instead. Either one will get the job done.
